The USS Grouse II was built in 1943 by Al Larson's Boat Shop, CA. She was 136 feet long had a 24'6" beam and displaced 296 gross tons.

The 136 foot US Minesweeper Grouse ran aground on September 21, 1963. There were no injuries to the crew. The Navy tried to re-float the vessel but due to severe weather they were un-successful. Constant pounding cause the vessel to break up in the surf.

Today the USS Grouse lies scattered in 20 feet of water. Divers will still recognize her engine and boilers which provide the highest relief on the site.
